Ashton Packet Boat Company is an independent boat yard and private marina, situated on the site of the former Ashton Moss Colliery on the Ashton Canal. Established in the 1970s to restore several historic wooden narrowboats, including Joel and Maria that are still cared for there to this day.

Over the years the yard has developed a thriving community and built facilities for the painting, blacking and restoration of all types of narrowboats.
